About Leon

Leon Stevenson is a singer, songwriter, musician from Toronto Canada beginning his professional career in 1972.

In 1980, he and keyboardist Denis Keldie formed The Extras and made a few records for the Ready label including the underground and controversial hit Circular Impression which was all but banned on commercial radio and the song Can't Stand Still which garnered airplay from Much Music with its critically acclaimed animated video of the same name.

In the early 90s he was signed to MCA records along with Sandy Horne (the Spoons) at which time he developed his production and electronic media skills.

Throughout his career, Leon has performed at prestigious concert venues such as Massey Hall and The Hummingbird Centre (opening for Etta James).

His solid rock-blues style drumming and soulful singing makes him the first choice sideman for many Toronto based acts including the legendary Paul James Band and human jukebox Danny Marks.

He also lends his considerable electronic production and remix talents to artists such as Gerald V. Casale of Devo, Die Alten Maschinen, Gordon Deppe of The Spoons, Tom Barlow and Danny Marks to name but a few.
